Bali
Bomb Surviors take on the Brisbane to Gold Coast Bike Ride
October
12th 2002 was a day that changed Australian’s lives forever with the terrorism bombings
on the peaceful island of Bali.
This October marks the 6th anniversary of the Bali Bombings which will be covenanting
with a beautiful ceremony at Allambi Gardens on the Gold Coast.
During the morning of the 12th October 2008 there will be a different start to the
day for several of the survivors of the Bali Bombings of 2002. Glen Forster, Ben
Tullipan, Andrew Csabi & Glenn Cosman will be involved in a 100 km bike ride
that is taking place from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. Participating in the bike
ride is the idea of Glen Forster. Glen has been a keen cyclist for sometime and
noticed there was a bike ride that had been organized, The Wilson HTM Brisbane to
the Gold Coast Cycle Challenge, falls on the anniversary of the Bali Bombings this
year. Glen thought this would be a different way to start to such a memorable day,
a day that means so much to Glen, Glenn, Andy, Ben and other survivors and family
and friends of people involved in the bombings .
“The 6th anniversary marks another year of the Bali Bombing and I feel the bike
ride will be a different and meaningful way to start the day. We will also be raising
funds for the ‘Zero To One Foundation’ which is a charity organization established
by the Thwaites family after the death of their son Robert Thwaites in the bombings.
The Zero to One Foundation supports victims of Terrorism and Natural
Disasters. I have had positive feedback from many people for the ride and I have
managed to secure 13 sponsors for the day that have put a donation forward for clothing
for riders to wear on the day of the ride. I am seeking at least 40 riders to join
some of the Bali survivors, family, sponsors, friends and whoever else would like
to take part in such as great cause. All the funds raised on the day by way of donations,
and the sales of the bike rider’s kits, will go to victims of Terrorism and Natural
Disasters through The
Zero to One Foundation. Just one thing though, I have had
too many requests for support vehicle drivers! That spot has already been filled,
riders are what we need.’, Glen says.
Entries are now open for the ride. We are entering a team - Team Zero To One Foundation’,
Glen goes on to say.
If you wish to join “Team Zero To One Foundation’, or would like to wear a riders
kit on the day contact Glen or Ben on glefor@bigpond.com or btullipan@ztof.org even
if you would simply like to know more about the bike ride in general or make a donation
to Zero to One.
